Centre Pass: Corners

Centre Pass Set Plays.
Skills
Preliminary Moves & Passing, Defensive Moves, Vision & Quick Decisions.
Purpose
From the centre pass, run set plays to take advantage of the strengths (e.g. speed/height) of certain players, and maximise space for them to use. Different set-ups can confuse opponents unfamiliar with the strategy. This particular strategy involves[WA & GA]both starting wide, giving them both access to prime central space for their leads.

  • Setup

    Assign teams and setup as per diagram.

  • Step 1

    All players on the attacking team start in a corner, outside their opponent

  • Step 2

    On the whistle, [GA & WA] dodge inside towards [C]

  • Step 3

    [WD & GD] provide delayed straight leads into space vacated by [GA & WA]

  • Step 4

    A player leading centrally with an edge in speed will become first option.
    Wide [GD/WD] are tougher passes, and therefore only resorted to when inside leads are covered, or there's a massive favourable discrepancy in speed.
