Goal Third Throw-in: Transverse Line End

Purpose
When it's your throw-in in the goal third, there are specific set plays you can run, depending on where the ball went out of court. This particular strategy is used when nearer to transverse line than the baseline.

  • Setup

    Choose teams and setup as per the diagram.

  • Step 1

    Either [C or WA] take the throw - the player who doesn't moves right out to the other wing

  • Step 2

    [GD+WD] start back-court, giving maximum space to goalies. Run Goalie Systems (there will be a leading goalie)
    Please refer to Goalie System 1: Designated Leader, Goalie System 2: One Half Each
    Goalie System 3: Out then In, Goalie System 4: Stay at Home

  • Step 3

    If you find [GA] is up against sagging defence, goalie draws opponents towards sideline to open space for [GD+WD]

  • Step 4

    [GD+WD] should have plenty of room to provide second and third options from back-court.

  • Step 5

    Next pass should try to find the [GS], otherwise a feeder on the circle edge for a relatively simple third pass into the [GS]
