Lead-up, Pass Back

Skills
Preliminary Moves & Passing.
Purpose
The focus is on good ball control to catch a long pass, as well as mastering the landing, pivot and pass.

  • Setup

    Create lines across the court for each group of 6. You can have groups of 4 or 5, but players will need to pause for longer between passes, and players will tire quicker.

  • Step 1

    (A) runs into the centre, jumps and catches a pass from (B). Use a two-footed landing. (A) pivots and passes to stationary (C) behind them, then exits and joins (C).
    This completes 2 passes to cone (1)
    (A) lands with a sideways stance, so they can pivot and continue progress in the same direction
    Players in the middle join the station they pass to, which is always their starting station - they never cross to the other side.

  • Step 2

    Once (C) receives, (B) runs into the centre and receives (C)'s pass. (B) pivots and passes to stationary (D) behind them, , then exits and joins (D).
    This completes 2 passes to to cone (2)

  • Step 3

    Continue in this fashion (2 passes across, 2 passes back)
    Focus on a balanced landing, quick pivot, flat accurate pass.
